A heating device has a boiler-shaped closed water container (5) which can be heated either electrically or by means of gas or oil. Projecting into the water container is a steam pipe, the pipe windings (4) of which are run around the container and which has at the outlet end a safety valve (6) for regulating the quantity and moisture of the emerging steam. In addition to the convection and radiation heat delivered by the water container and steam pipe, this device also delivers water vapour for humidifying the room air. In order that condensate formation is extensively prevented in the steam pipe, it is guided as a vertical pipe (16) through the container interior and thus reheated. <IMAGE>
