PURPOSE:To eliminate the necessity for starting a grinding wheel of large inertia from its stopped condition, by equipping a controller which controls operation of the first and second power transmission mechanisms so as to transmit revolution of a synchronous rotary shaft in a speed changeless state to a holding shaft of a ground gear. CONSTITUTION:A grinding wheel rotary mechanism A is mounted on a grinding wheel base 1, and rotative driving power of an electric motor 2 is transmitted to a grinding wheel supporting shaft 4 through a gear train 3. A synchronous rotary shaft 14 is synchronously driven to rotate with respect to a grinding wheel 5, and a differential gear 15 operated with said shaft 14 as the input shaft is mounted. The gear 15 is equipped with the first power transmission mechanism B for transmitting revolution of the shaft 14 to a ground gear holding shaft 16, the output shaft, as in a speed changeless state and the second power transmission mechanism C for transmitting the revolution in a speed change state. At a point of time when a rotary phase of a ground gear 17 is aligned to a rotary phase of the wheel 5 detected by a phase detector 7, the revolution of the shaft 14 is transmitted as in a speed changeless state to the shaft 16, and the shaft 14 is synchronously rotated with the wheel 5. |
