PURPOSE:To minimally reduce knocking noise which is generated when a valve gear lifter slides in a guide hole by providing sliders of synthetic resin in either one of the external face of a cylindrical shell of the valve gear lifter or the internal face of the guide hole. CONSTITUTION:A retainer 13 is tightly fit to the upper end of a valve stem 11 with a two-split cotter 14 and one end of a valve spring 17 is engaged to the upper face of the retainer 13 to push the valve stem 11 upwards, namely, in the closing direction. A valve lifter 19 which consists of a shell 23 and a pressure receiving plate 24 is slidably engaged in a guide hole 21 of a cylinder head 20 while an outer pad 31 is engaged in an engagement hole 29 in the pressure receiving plate 24 and makes slidable contact with a valve gear cam 33. A groove 19a is formed on the external face of the valve lifter 19 and a ring 19b or a slider which is made of synthetic resin is fit in the groove. The shell 23 and the guide hole 21 make slidable contact via the ring 19b, whereby knocking noise generated when they slide each other may be reduced. |
