<p>A chute for collecting latex or gum being tapped from a tree is made in one piece from a rigid sheet material and incorporates longitudinal webs to confine the liquid laterally and to brace the chute against the trunk of the tree and a pair of lateral panels for clamping a pendant container, esp. a flexible plastic bag. The chute is pref. moulded from a high density polyethylene stabilised against oxidn. and UV-light, pref. is black. The collecting vessel is pref. of matl. having a softening temp. higher than 110 deg. C, to allow the latex to be drained out hot without dissolving the container; pref. the container is a flexible bag made of high density polyethylene- a suitable matl. for chute or bag being "Acqlene" (RTM). Flaps which grip the rim of the bag on either side of the throat of the chute pref. have integral press stud and collar (hole) profiles. B.</p> |
