A device and a process for the heap-storage of granular bulk material are described. The device has elements known per se for heap loading and unloading as well as an electronic control which controls these elements in a manner according to the invention. The control can consist for example of a mini computer, a microprocessor circuit or a logic circuit and records the various parameters of the bulk material heap, such as heap height, storage capacity etc. and the operating parameters of the device for heap storage and controls the work sequence of the device for heap storage corresponding to the process according to the invention.
