Position sensor for contact-free reporting of specific relative positions of objects, consisting of a polarised relay (R) having an armature (Z) which is held in the switch positions (Z', Z") in each case by retaining forces (H2, H1) in a bistable manner, by the magnetic field of a permanent magnet (PM2), as a result of which the contacts (K1, K3; K1, K2) located on the armature (Z) are in each case closed, and which is surrounded by a winding (W) which generates an axial magnetic field in the armature (Z) during electrical loading and in consequence sets said armature to a specific position (Z"), and which furthermore consists of a permanent magnet (PM1) which polarises the armature (Z) in specific relative positions with respect to the relay (R) such that the retaining force (H1) is overcome and the armature (Z) moves into the position (Z') and is held there, even when the permanent magnet (PM1) and its magnetic field are removed again. Various embodiments, an application in an alarm system and an evaluation circuit for this purpose are represented. <IMAGE>
