In a display device for a tachometer, two circular optical waveguides (4, 5) are arranged coaxially with respect to one another and in each case covering one another. The optical waveguide (4) is conducted with a continuation (10) into an illumination chamber (11) and the optical waveguide (5) is conducted with a continuation (13) into an illumination chamber (12). Each optical waveguide (4, 5) is provided with a scale. When the illumination chamber (11) is switched on, light flows through the optical waveguide (4) and the scale on it becomes visible. When the illumination chamber (12) is switched on, light flows through the optical waveguide (5) so that the scale on it becomes visible. An optical waveguide disc (16) which projects with in each case one continuation (17, 18) into each of the illumination chambers (11, 12) is used for pointer illumination. <IMAGE>
