PURPOSE:To prevent a non-excitation operation type electromagnetic brake from generation of idling torque due to the leaked flux of an electromagnet and lowering of controlling ability by constructing one among a guide rod, a brake plate, and a spline hub of non-magnetic material. CONSTITUTION:In a non-excitation operation type electromagnetic brake, when current is supplied to a coil 7, an armature 5 is attracted to a yoke 2, and a friction plate 12 is separated from a brake plate 13 by a spring 18 to remove braking force. Here, at least one among a guide rod 8, a braking plate 13, and a spline hub 11, is constructed of non-magnetic substance, for example, austenite stainless steel. In this construction, leaked magnetic fluxes phi1 and phi2 are increased in their reluctances, and essentially reduced to zero. Consequently, the brake plate 13 can be smoothly slided against the guide rod 8, and separated from the friction plate 12 for sure by the spring 18 into a state with a regular small gap. |
