A mineral mining machine comprises nozzle means for producing high pressure kerfing jets and wedge- like breaking tools for breaking off the kerfed means and disposed one above the other, said tools having one or more breaking heads (1) rigidly mounted on a support of the machine and on an element adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the mining face and one or more breaking heads (2) being yieldably connected to the support and adjustment element in the length direction of the face, by means of a spring or hydraulic cylinder (3).
