NEW MATERIAL:The ureidobenzamide derivative of formulaI(R1 is H, methyl or methoxy; R2 is straight-chain, branched-chain or cyclic alkyl or phenyl which may have substituent group at the nucleus; R3 is H or one or two methyl groups; n is 0 or 1). EXAMPLE:3-(3-Methylureido)-N-2-pyridylbenzamide. USE:Drug having blood sugar level depressing activity. PROCESS:The compound of formulaIcan be prepared e.g. by (1) reacting the compound of formula II (X is halogen) with an aminopyridine compound in the presence of a base, (2) reducing the resultant 3-nitrobenzamide derivative of formula III to obtain 3-aminobenzamide derivative of formula IV, and (3) reacting the product with an isocyanate compound.
