FIELD: physics, measurement. ^ SUBSTANCE: distributed fiber optic sensor for measuring deformation and/or temperature using Brillouin scattering comprises a graded optical light emission source to generate an optical pulse characterised by the step distribution of the light intensity increasing towards the centre and a continuous light emission source to generate continuous light emission. The sensor comprises also a sensitive optical fiber onto which the optical pulse is falling as probing light and the continuous light emission - as pumping light thus causing Brillouin scattering between the probing light and the pumping light, and a detector of Brillouin scattering in time domain to specify Brillouin attenuation spectrum or Brillouin amplification spectrum according to the light emission transmitted from the sensitive optical fiber and attributed to the Brillouin scattering as well as to measure deformation caused inside and/or temperature of the sensitive optical fiber on the basis of the specified Brillouin attenuation spectrum or Brillouin amplification spectrum. ^ EFFECT: production of a distributed optical fiber sensor that does nor require any manual adjustment of the light intensity of the scattering light radiation according to the sensitive optical fiber length and that allows for perception of momentary deformations. ^ 12 cl, 25 dwg |
