The novel - synergistic - combinations of active substances, consisting of (1) N-(2-benzothiazolyl)-N,N'-dimethylurea (methabenzthiazuron) of the formula I <IMAGE> and (2) at least one substituted phenoxypropionic acid ester of the general formula II <IMAGE> (in which the symbols R<1>, R<2>, Ar, X, a and n are as defined in the description), can be used for selectively controlling weeds in various crops, preferably in cereal crops, these combinations also acting efficiently on dicotyledon weeds and grass weeds such as oat grass and grass weeds of the millet type, all of which are usually difficult to control. |
