The apparatus is of the type comprising two gripping clamps, each composed of a pair of jaws (15-17, 16-18), which pair is actuated by clamping connecting rods (25-27, 26-28) connected to an operating lever (3) via link arms (9, 10) articulated to this lever on either side of a pivot pin (4) of the lever situated on the extension of a guide bar (1) on which slides one of the two jaws of each clamp, the two clamps being displaced in opposite directions, clamping in one of the two directions of displacement. According to the invention, each of the jaws (17-18) opposite the guided jaws (15-16) is arranged on the pivots (33) to (36) of the articulations to the connecting rods (25) to (28) in such a way that, by 180 DEG rotation about this longitudinal axis, it can present, opposite the guide jaw (15-16) of the same clamp, one or other of its two opposite faces (39-41) and (40-42), each comprising a clamping profile such as a groove. <IMAGE> |
