A new membrane was prepared from a sericite compound for a water ionizer, which produces alkaline tap water (natural mineral water) using H2O electrolysis. The mineral content of the membrane was 17 wt.% sericite, 8 wt.% magnesium silicate, 20 wt.% silica salt, 5 wt.% clay, and 50 wt.% potter's clay. The mineral mixture has a particle size range of 80-120 mesh, and was kneaded with the proper amount of water. The dough was molded into a membrane of suitable size and roasted in a furnace at 800≦̸C±.
