PURPOSE:To decrease the number of feeders to heads in a color ink jet printer, by providing a switch, which switches each common electrode terminal of a plurality of multiple recording heads for every head. CONSTITUTION:The pulses of a clock pulse train from an oscillator 31 are counted by counters 32 and 33, respectively. Gate pulses A and B are generated and switching pulses (a)-(c) having intervals of three periods are generated through a differential circuit 34 based on pulses D and E. Meanwhile, a complementary color signal are supplied from picture signal generator 35-37 to gate circuit 38-40. The color signal is made to pass through nozzles 22-1-22-3 based on the pulses (a)-(c) and through nozzles HA1-HA3...HC1-HC3 based on the pulses A and B in a gate circuit 41, with a period being shifted by one clock for every nozzle head and every nozzle. Each nozzle is operated one at every 9 clock periods through a driving circuit 42, power transistors Q1-Q3, and a switch 44. Thus the number of feeders are decreased and the running load of a carriage can be alleviated. |
