This recording and/or reproducing apparatus has at least one magnetic head, which is rotatable in a given direction of rotation, and at least one tape guide for a magnetic tape, which is arranged near the magnetic head. The magnetic tape passes round at least a part of the circumferential surface of the tape guide and past the magnetic head. The head rotates at a given level as oblique tracks of the tape are scanned by the magnetic head in the given direction of tape movement. The tracks of the tape are situated within a longitudinal half of the magnetic tape.
