PURPOSE:To enable the detection of flaws with stable accuracy by forming a probe in such a way that it can turn around the axial center of a round bar- like material to be inspected thereby enabling the flaw detection while the spacing between the circumferential surface and the probe is maintained constant. CONSTITUTION:When a motor 18 runs, a turning body 4 turns and a probe 10 is turned by the same around the axial center 11 intended to be inserted with a material to be inspected. When a material 7 to be inspected is inserted in this state toward the insertion space 6 while the axial center thereof is positioned along the center 11, the probe 10 is turned spirally along the circumferential surface of the material 7 and detects the flaw in the circumferential surface of the material 7 in a known way. When the axial center 7a of the material 7 displaces from the center 11 as shown by an arrow X in the stage when the flaw detection is accomplished in the above-mentioned way, the displacement thereof is detected as the change in the distance between the circumferential surface of the material 7 and a distance sensor 13 by the sensor 13. The detection signal is transmitted to a connecting means so that the rotating center of the probe 10 is maintained always in the position of the axial center of the material 7. |
