PURPOSE:To record clearly and favorably, by transferring a second ink having a color different from that of a first ink so as to cover up the first ink transferred onto a sheet, and pressing a recording head against the sheet only in the region in which the second ink is transferred. CONSTITUTION:In synchronism with feeding of a carriage 12, a plurality of electro-thermal converters of a recording head 4 are driven to generate heat based on data signals, whereby a recording ink on an ink ribbon 5 is melted, and the melted ink 2 is transferred onto a sheet 1 in a predetermined pattern, thereby recording. To correct an image such as a character and a symbol recorded in the ink 2, the same operation as the recording operation is conducted to transfer a correction ink 3 onto the sheet 1 over a region wider than the width of the image so as to cover up the image to be corrected. Then, the recording ink is transferred onto the ink 3 on the basis of printing data, thereby performing new recording. In this new recording operation, the recording head 4 is pressed against the sheet 1 on a platen 11 through the ink ribbon 5 only in the region in which the ink 3 is transferred. |
