PURPOSE:To obtain a convex hardened plastic lens having excellent dye colorability and color fastness, by removing a part or the whole of the cross-linked and hardened resin film of the concave face of the surface-hardened plastic lens then dyeing the same by using a disperse dye. CONSTITUTION:The cross-linked and hardened resin film on the concave face of a plastic lens applied with cross-linked and hardened plastic film on both surfaces is removed by a method of polishing the same or sticking an aq. NaOH soln. thereon and heat-treating the film to hydrolyze the film or the like. The lens is immersed in a disperse dye soln. under heating to allow the dye to penetrate to the lens from the concave face. The lens having excellent dye colorability, color fastness, solvent resistance and the resistance to abration of the convex face is thus obtained. The lens is dyed quickly by removing the hardened film. |
