The present invention relates to a cut metal foil having a cutting plane with reduced burr and a method to cut a metal foil. A metal foil having a thickness (t) of 2 to 300 μm having a cross-section cut by a shearing process comprises: an upper cutting plane on an input side of a cutting blade; and a lower cutting plane on an output side of the cutting blade, wherein the upper cutting plane is a whole surface, and the lower cutting plane is a fracture surface. The method to cut the metal foil comprises: a step of shear straining on at least a portion of a metal foil thickness by pressing a surface of the metal foil by the cutting blade; and a step of fracture straining on a remaining portion of the metal foil thickness by applying tension on the metal foil by the cutting blade.
