The invention relates to a process for producing chair seats, backrests and seat shells or such like articles from paperboard or cardboard, which is characterised in that moulded parts having clearances or holes serving for subsequent fastening are punched out from cardboard sheets or webs by means of a punch corresponding to the contours of the article, whereupon a plurality, preferably four to five, of moulded parts are laid one after the other in a compression mould and a layer of a cold-setting adhesive is applied, for example by brushing or spraying-on, between each two moulded parts, whereupon the moulded-part/adhesive layers are pressed into the compression mould by means of a pressing die fitting into the compression mould and, after setting of the adhesive and lifting-off of the pressing die, the finished article is removed from the compression mould. <IMAGE>
