A sleeve and sealing ring for retention in an annular groove which is constructed in the collar region of the sleeve for a pipe plug connection are characterised in that the lip-like sealing sections of the sealing ring, which rest on the outer jacket of the tip end to be sealed, have a radial width which is less than the radius of curvature of a convex annular section which lies opposite the angle enclosed by the two annular surfaces. In consequence, the torsional sealing ring, whose functional principle is known per se, is provided with an essentially bean-shaped or cardioid cord profile which makes possible a high configuration stability and sealing of the pipe plug connection, with a short axial construction, without additional reinforcing measures.
