Chin strap for a protective helmet

The invention describes a chin strap for protective helmets, for example crash helmets, the one-part design of which permits omission of the previously customary closure mechanisms necessary for connection of two strap halves to form a strap closure. For this purpose, the chin strap comprises two sections forming a unit, one of which permits a secure unremovable fit on the head of the user in the locked state of the helmet closure, whereas the other section only becomes effective after release of the closure mechanism in a manner such that the strap can be extended in length and thus be handled in the same way as the previous two-part straps without being opened. <IMAGE>
