A bottom block with a housing (8) and a load hook (3) in the swung-out position hangs on a rope (1) of a lifting appliance (not shown). The load hook (3) is arranged on a pivot (7) in such a way that it is locked against rotation. The pivot (7) is guided by a rope pulley (2) and by a perpendicular slot (6) of a central plate (5) of a set-down device (4). A control pin (9) projecting from the set-down device (4), which is vertically displaceable relative to the housing, is fastened in the set-down device (4). The control pin (9) is intended for pivoting a pivot lever (10) which, via a tooth system (not shown) of the pivot (7), is connected to the load hook (3) in such a way as to be locked against rotation. A bolt (13) for mounting a locking lever (11) is fastened in the housing (8) at the top. The locking lever (11) controls the pivoting of the load hook by means of a locking cam plate (15) and the hook pivoting lock (14) arranged therein and tilting locking bar (16). <IMAGE>
