In a system for transmission of binary data signals and associated bit clock signals in a transmission signal from a data signal transmitter via a transmission path to a data signal receiver, the bit clock signal associated with the respective data signal is extracted at the transmitting end with clock pulses corresponding to the transmission bit rate of the transmission path with the output of a sampling pulse string and, following the occurrence of a 1-0 or 0-1 bit string in the sampling pulse string, is supplemented by a fixed number of bits of the currently present data signal and is output as a transmission signal; at the receiving end, the bits occurring in the fixed number and in sync with the transmission bit rate following the occurrence of a 1-1-0 or 0-0-1 bit string in the transmission signal are evaluated as data bits, while the transmission signal released from the data signal bits serves as a receiver-end bit clock signal of the data signal. <IMAGE>
