PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fraud detection rule updating method that can update a rule as a reference for detecting an unauthorized frame as occasion demands in an on-vehicle network system.SOLUTION: An on-vehicle network system having plural electronic control units (ECU) 100a to 100e communicating with one another through a bus, and fraud detection ECUs 400a to 400c for performing determination of adaptability of a message transmitted on the bus to a rule on the basis of a fraud detection rule uses a fraud detection rule updating method of receiving distribution data containing an updating fraud detection rule from an external server 500 of the on-vehicle network system, and updating a fraud detection rule to the updating fraud detection rule in the fraud detection ECU 400a when a predetermined updating condition is satisfied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
