<p>PURPOSE:To prepare novel antibiotic 662-A substance and 662-A' substance showing growth inhibitory activity against Gram-positive bacteria and fungi, by cultivating a bacterium belonging to the genus Streptomyces. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium such as Streptomyces hygroscopicus No.662 (FERM- P 6434) belonging to the genus Spreptomyces, capable of producing antibiotic 662-A substance, is cultivated by aerated spinner culture at 25-35 deg.C, antibiotic 662-A substance is collected from the culture solution, and the antibiotic is optionally treated with methanol hydrochloride so that it is converted into antibiotic 662-A' substance, which is collected.</p> |
