PURPOSE:To prevent a dielectric breakdown and to attain miniaturization of power source by forming transparent electrode on the top and rear surfaces of a rectangular thin plate of electrooptic crystal except at opposite-side end part, stacking the electrode one over another in crossing relation, and forming a nonreflecting film on the surface of the intersection part. CONSTITUTION:On the top and rear surfaces of rectangular electrooptic crystal 1 made of lithium niobate, transparent electrode 2 are formed except at the opposite side end part leaving size L and the electrode is stacked crosswise one over another. In this case, the nonreflecting film 7 is formed over the surface of the intersection part previously. Then, the same electrodes are set in one direction. When a voltage from a power source 4 is applied to the transparent electrode 2, light 3 incident to the crystal 1 has a desired phase difference in the crystal and is projected as shown by an arrow. The operation at a low voltage prevents a dielectric breakdown and reduces the size of the power source. |
