The invention relates to an irradiation device for cosmetic and/or therapeutic irradiation of individuals with optical radiation, having a number of radiation sources to which means are allocated for radiation deflection and/or for changing the spectrum of the original radiation, with at least one housing having at least one radiation exit opening in which radiation sources are accommodated. For the irradiation device to be of simple design and at the same time to be usable as a whole body or as a part-body irradiation unit, the invention provides for the housing containing radiation sources to consist of several part-housings which are fixed to one another so as to be pivotable in a manner such that they can be pivoted from an unfolded position in which radiation exit openings conjointly form an irradiation surface which is sufficiently large for irradiation of the whole body, into a folded position in which at least one radiation exit opening forms a radiation surface which can be used for irradiation of part of the body.
