An agricultural chemical, 4-thiasolidinone compound(VII) is prepared from reaction of 3-pyridylcarboxaldehyde(VIII) and substituted amine(IX); where R is C3-C10 alkyl, C3-C8 cycloalkyl, methallyl, phenyl, halophenyl, trifluoromethylphenyl, benzyl, methoxybenzyl, methylbenzyl, halobenzyl, dimethylaminoethyl, methylcyclohexyl, C3-C8 cycloalkyl, nitrophenyl, α-methylbenzyl, penoxyphenyl, haloanilyl, trifluoromethylthiophenyl, methoxyphenyl, xylyl, biphenyl, fluoroalkoxyphenyl, etc.; R1 is H, methyl or C1-C6 alkyl; R2 is H, C1-C6 alkyl radicals.
