A universally usable ridge seal for building coverings consists of a profiled sheet of symmetrical cross-section, which forms in the profile centre an inverted U-shaped rail (4), to which are joined, on both sides, in each case a channel (5) and a wing (6). Aprons made of flexible material are attached to the wings (6), protruding far beyond their longitudinal edges. The profiled sheet is advantageously divided into identical elements (3) of given length, which overlap one another. Transverse grooves (14) impressed into the profiled-sheet elements close to their longitudinal ends engage sealingly in one another upon overlapping. <IMAGE>
