Novel halogenated 4-pyridone derivatives of the general formula <IMAGE> in which R<1> is alkyl, R<2> is hydrogen and R<3> is halogen, or R<2> is halogen and R<3> is hydrogen, R<4> and R<5> are identical or different and are optionally substituted phenyl, a process for their preparation, and their use as herbicides.
