PURPOSE:To obtain the optimum injection amount and injection timing in accordance with the operation state of an engine by controlling the injection amount by opening and closing the control passage formed on a plunger by means of a control sleeve and adjusting the injection timing by means of a solenoid valve in a high-pressure passage. CONSTITUTION:A unit injector 21 is composed of a fuel injection amount control part 100, injection timing control part 200, and an injection nozzle part 300. The fuel injection timing is dependent on the timing in which a solenoid coil 81 is in the electric conduction state during the lowering period of a plunger 32. When the plunger 32 lowers furthermore, a control port 68 is opened to a control chamber 70 from the lower edge of a control sleeve 52, and each fuel pressure in a pressure chamber 34 and a high-pressure passage 35 sharply drops, and injection is completed. The fuel injection amount is deteremined by the amount of transfer of the plunger 32, and the position of the plunger 32 at the completion of injection is determined by the position at which the sleeve 52 which is shifted by the fuel pressure a control chamber 70 opens a control passage 67. |
