PURPOSE:To provide a titled flux which can control the content of Cr in the padded metal of build-up welding by a belt-like stainless steel electrode easily, by granulating and sizing Cr powder or Cr alloy powder to about the same bulk density as the bulk density of the flux and compounding the granules in a proper amt. with the flux. CONSTITUTION:The granular metallic powder obtd. by granulating and sizing Cr powder or/and Cr alloy powder by using a binder such as potassium silicate, sodium silicate or the like to 1.4-2.2g/cm<3> bulk density is compounded at 2- 20% with a melting type flux and such flux is used in horizontal electroslag build-up welding using a belt-like stainless steel, whereby the content of Cr, that is, the content of ferrite, in padded metal is made easily controllable. If it is desired to keep the bulk density of the above-mentioned granular metallic powder at a slightly low level, <=20% fluorite powder is added to the Cr powder, etc. If the mixing ratio of the granular metallic powder is <2%, the effect thereof is low and if the radio is >20%, the addition thereof is undesirable in terms of welding workability. |
