PURPOSE:To make possible the adjustment of timing of release of a sheet of paper at the time of changeover of the direction of the discharge of paper during the operation of a machine, by biting a paper sheet discharged from a printing drum by paper discharge clicks of a paper discharge chain so as to discharge the paper with the discharge being changed selectively to a upstream positioned paper discharge section or to a downstream positioned paper discharge section. CONSTITUTION:The paper discharge apparatus of a paper sheet printer has the plurality of clicks 21 that are circulated by the discharge paper chain 16, and the paper 5 gripped by the clicks 21 is delivered from the left.
