PURPOSE:To accommodate a variation in size of a journal bearing caused by a bulged condition of the bearing by a method wherein the pad type bearing composed of a bulged sliding material is set for its position by claws arranged at the housing. CONSTITUTION:A rotary shaft 1 is supported by four pad type bearings 2 made of bulged sliding material fitted in the bearing housing 3. The end surfaces of the pad type bearings 2 are constructed such that they are abutted against the end surfaces of claws 5 which are integral with the covers 4 arranged at both ends of the bearing housing 3. A circumferential gap G1 and axial gaps G2 and G3 are provided to enable a free movement of the shaft even if the pad type bearings 2 show their bulged sizes. |
