The invention relates to a reeling machine with two supporting rollers and a pressure roller which acts on the reel. To achieve uniform reel hardness, the load exerted by the pressure roller on the reel is altered as a function of the diameter of the reel in such a way that the linear pressure of the reel against the supporting rollers is constant, at least in the lower range of reel diameters. In order to exert as small a load as possible on the web of material during reeling, and especially to prevent the reel jumping out of the reeling machine, the contact force of the pressure roller is controlled as a function of the rate of increase of the reel diameter. Linear pressure is controlled by relieving the reel of the inherent weight of the pressure roller by means of a cylinder/piston arrangement, while control of the maximum permissible rate of deflection of the pressure roller is achieved by controlling the outflow of a pressure medium from the said cylinder/piston arrangement. |
