PURPOSE:To improve activity due to mutual action between a catalytic active component and a carrier, by using at least one of the metal carbonide, metal oxide and interlayer compound of carbon as the carrier holding active metal. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the electrodes arranged between electrolyte holding matrixes is provided with a carrier holding active metal on a conductive base material, for instance, at least one of the metal carbonide, metal oxide and interlayer compound of carbon, carbon powder and a water repellent agent. In this way, performance of an electrode catalyst due to mutual action between active noble metal and carrier can be improved. |
