PURPOSE:To process various data generated in various information processing de vices, without utilizing a special data managing program, by providing a data compressing means using a run length code and a managing means for data accumulation. CONSTITUTION:An external storage device 2 consisting of a controlling part 3 and a storage part 4 is connected to a host computer 1 as an information processing device through a data bus. The controlling part 3 consists of a compressing/expanding part 6 and a write/read controlling part 7, and input/output data reaches the write/read controlling part 7 through the compressing/expanding part 6 or without passing through this part 6 as required. The compressing/ expanding part 6 consists of a register 13 where a compression unit designating code 8 in redundant data is stored, a run length counter 14, an AND gate 15-1 which transfers original data to a compression/expansion controlling part 16, an AND gate 15-2 which transfers expanded data to a data bus 5, a buffer memory 18 where unit data of original data is stored, and a counter 17 which generates the run length of original data. |
