The centrifugal cleaner comprises a sleeve (6) carrying a drum (5) enclosed in a shell (7). The sleeve rests upon bearings (3,4) on a vertical hollow axle (2) made fast on a base (1). Slits (11) are provided in the hollow axle (2) for feeding the fluid being cleaned into the drum through ports (12) arranged in the sleeve opposite the slits. Non-contact seals (16-18) are interposed between the axle and the sleeve. Chambers (19,20), for collecting leaking fluid are provided between each of the bearings (3,4) and the non-contact seals (16,18) in the direction of flow of the leaking fluid, each of the chambers being communicated, through at least one passage (21,22) with a chamber bounded by the base, the shell and the drum.
