A stabilising device for tipping lorries or trailers comprises two frames (4, 5) each trapezoidal in shape. These are pivotally interconnected along their minor bases about a transverse axis (6). The major base of one frame (4) is pivotally attached to the vehicle chassis (18) about a second transverse axis (22). The major base of the other frame (5) is pivotally attached to the tipper (1) about a third transverse axis (17). The sides of the frames have a high resistance to bending so that in use the torsional movement of the tipper about its longitudinal axis in considerably reduced.
