The subject matter of the invention is a DC converter for operation of a DC load and/or for charging an energy store. The DC converter contains a capacitor (3) which can be charged via a first electronic switch (1) and a first inductor (4) from an input voltage source +/-UB, and can be discharged into the DC load or energy store (8) via a second electronic switch (2) and a second inductor (5). The DC load or energy store (8) is connected at its one terminal to the anodes or cathodes of two diodes (6, 7) which are polarised in opposite directions and whose cathodes and anodes are in each case connected to a terminal of the inductors (4, 5). The DC converter can be operated with a switching-on ratio of the electronic switches (1, 2) which is optionally fixed or continuously varied by means of a regulator element. The DC converter can be used as a charging apparatus, which can be regulated electronically, for small apparatuses, especially for rechargeable electric razors. <IMAGE>
