PURPOSE:To obtain a typewriter enabling an increase in its value as a commodity without a large increase in the cost for manufacture, by providing a means for measuring the number of input key strokes per unit time and displaying the same. CONSTITUTION:A binary counter CUNT and a timer TMR are cleared by pressing a key ST of a keyboard KB, and a character information (d) is supplied to a printing mechanism controlling device CONT and the counter CUNT by pressing a character key. The number of counts of the counter is incremented by 1 every time when one character is printed by a printing mechanism PRT. When the key ST is pressed again, the counts of the counter and the timer are stopped, and simultaneously a division instruction signal C is supplied to a divider DIV. Reading out the content (e) of the counter and the content (f) of the timer, the divider supplies the quotient (g) (=e/f) to a binary-decimal conversion circuit BTD, and a decimal information (h) is supplied therefrom to a display unit DSP, whereby the number of input key strokes per average unit time is displayed. |
