The contaminated scale is first subjected to mechanical treatment, esp. in a ball mill, and is next washed with a liq. in a flotation process, where the cleaned scale leaving the base of a tank is de-watered, and the water is recycled to the process. The water leaving the overflow of the flotation plant is purified to remove the oil, and may also be returned to the flotation tank. The water pref. contains detergents, and is pref. recycled to the ball mill. The scale is pref. milled for 2-5 minutes so its average particle size is only reduced by 4-6%. The process and plant may also be used for winning petroleum from minerals, esp. sands and rocks. Simplicity, and low energy consumption are achieved. |
