PURPOSE:To prevent the growth of fungi in a treating liquid for printing plates by adding a composition containing an antibacterial organic compound and triethylenetriamine hexa-acetic acid to the treating liquid. CONSTITUTION:Triethylenetriamine hexa-acetic acid or its salt is added to a treating liquid having a acidulated or slightly alkaline pH region (usually 4-8). The salt is a phosphate and its preferrable amount to be added is about 0.1-10g per 1l of the treating liquid. Also, a sequentering agent and chelating agent for alkaline earth metal ions (e.g., calcium ion, etc.) are added to a silver halide photographic developer liquid, and an insensitizing accelerator, a buffer, a preservative, and a wetting agent are added as needed. Thus, the growth of fungi in the treating liquid can be prevented and staining with ink in non-picture parts can also be prevented. |
