PURPOSE:To obtain an automatic equalizer having high equalization ability of line characteristics at the data reception mode, by reducing the number of effective tap at the initial stage of the initial training, increasing the effective tap number at the other conventional data reception modes and performing stable and high speed convergence at the initial training. CONSTITUTION:A carrier generator OSC generates a carier shifted by phase theta from that of a received line signal, and a signal B at a lead 14 in orthogonal amplitude modulation by means of a multiplier MLT1 and a filter LPF is demodulated into a base band signal rk. The automatic equalizer AAE is adaptive automatically and equalized to the characteristics of the line receiving the line signal. An output 22 of the AAE is given to a quantizer QZ, where the symbol included in the line signal is decided from an output yk and quantized. The output 22 of the AAE and an output 24 of the QZ are inputted to a subtractor SUB1, which outputs a difference signal -ek between the signal yk of a lead 22 and a signal ak of a lead 24 to a lead 26 and the signal -ek is inputted to the AAE and is used for the convergence of the AAE. |
