摘要 PURPOSE:To prevent the number of idle revolution from being determined to an unreasonably high value by selecting, as the number of idle revolution, the maximum value among specific values preset every time when each of a plurality of loads is applied on the engine in turn. CONSTITUTION:A number MTW proportional to a reciprocal number of the target number of idle revolution which is determined from a temperature of cooling water is first calculated (at a step 2). Next when an air conditioner is in operation (at a step 3), a number MACO proportional to the reciprocal number of a number of revolution to which an increment needed due to additional load of the air conditioner and experimentally found in advance is set as a value of a mantissa MAC (at a step 5). Finally at steps 8-14, the minimum among thus found values MTU, MAT and MAC, namely, the value corresponding to the maximum target number of revolution is selected as MPB. The engine may be controlled at the target number of idle revolution proprotional to the reciprocal to the MPB.
