PURPOSE:To develop electrostatic latent images surely with simple constitution by spacing at prescribed distance developing roll incorporated with ratatable magnetic roll magnetized with N and S poles successively in the circumferential part in developing sleeve of non-magnetic material alongside the surface of an electrostatic latent image carrying body. CONSTITUTION:The 1st developing roll 12 incorporated with a rotatable magnetic roll 14 magnetized successively circumferentially with N and S poles in the circumferential part in a developing sleeve 13 consisting of a non-magnetic material coaxially with said sleeve as well as the 2nd developing roll 12' incorporated with a magnetic roll 14' magnetized successively circumferentially with N and S poles in the circumferential part and is able to be driven by the rotating magnetic fields associated with the rotation of the roll 14 in a developing sleeve 13' consisting of a non-magnetic material coaxially with said sleeve are provided. The spacing between the 1st and the 2nd developing positions A and B on the surface of an electrostatic latent image carrying body 10 developed by both rolls 12, 12' is set the distance L expressed by the equation.
