<p>Conc. aq. compsns. which can form a stable and durable foam after dilution with water and incorporation of a gas, comprises:-(1) 0.1-5 wt.% of a polysaccharide; (2) a surfactant comprising 2-10 wt.% of a non-fluorinated anionic surfactant, 0-2.5 wt.% of a non-fluorinated amphoteric surfactant and 0-2 wt.% of a fluorinated amphoteric surfactant; (3) 0.2-2 wt.% of a foam stabiliser; (4) 1-12 wt.% urea; (5) 0-25 wt.% solvent; (6) 0.1-1 wt.% preservative, and (7) 50-70 wt.% water. The compsn., after dilution and foaming, is used to combat fire by projecting the foam on the fire. The fire may originate from polar and/or non polar liquid.</p> |
