In an overhead projector consisting of a housing, on which a projector arm supporting the lens and a foldable deflecting mirror is mounted, which housing supports the writing table on its surface directed upwards, and in which there are accommodated the illuminating device, which has a lamp, a mirror and a Fresnel lens, the housing consisting of two parts, an angular part which is open on the upper side of the recumbent limb and the forwardly directed side of the vertical limb, and which accommodates the light source and the mirror, and a cuboid or prismatic part which accommodates the Fresnel lens and the writing table and is mounted on the recumbent limb of the angular part and is to be fastened thereon and touches the vertical limb of the angular part, and which is open on the side facing the angular part, the aim is to achieve the object of improving this overhead projector even further to the effect that the cuboid or prism-shaped part is particularly easy to detach from the angular part, in order not only to render the lamp easily accessible for an exchange of lamps, but also to render rapid access possible. The invention achieves this object when the recumbent limb of the angular housing part has on both sides on its upper edge projections on which the cuboid part rests.
